Capitol Peak is a Palo Duro Canyon State Park landmark. Layer upon layer of exposed rocks reveal a panoramic view of magnificent colors. On the left is the famous Capitol Peak Hoodoo, a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from a formation. Hoodoos consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. ©2012 Michael Schumacher
